ERROR : There was an error updating the package for security update for < Update Name >

After I have gone through the steps in the "Deploy software updates wizard", I get to the confirmation page and have success in all the items except the last one. The message says: "Warning: There was an error updating the package for Security Update for Windows XP  and other related updates". I get this message on all of the Security Updates I am trying to deploy in this package. When I check the share where I configured the updates to be downloaded to, they are all present. but still getting the same error as mentined below picture.

to reslove this error please follow below steps or check configuration.

1) Check SCCM Server user permission.
2) Add Package on Distribution Point and update.
3) check Firewall configuration if necessary please open Websites and ports as mentioned in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693717.aspx  technet Article.
4) Check Share and Security Permission of WSUS update package source folder and give permission as below.

Share & Security permission
*  Network Services                Full permission
*  SCCM Computer Account   Full permission.
*  Local Administrator Group   Full permission
*  Domain Admin                     Full Permission
* Sccm admin                          Full permission

5) Check Temp Folder permission or restricion via GPO.

Some time user doesn't have temporary folder permission due this reson you can face "Access Denied" error.

When sccm start downloading updates from microsoft website then it will store in to Temporary folder first and then copy to the destination folder to overcome this error check Windows Temporary folder permission.

Now Try to download windows update it should work.

Access is denied when using Configuration Manager Remote Control

The ConfigMgr Console Could not Connect to the ConfigMgr Site Database. Verigy that this computer has network connectivity to the SMS Provider computer and that your user account has Remote Activation permissions on both the ConfigMgr site server and SMS Provider computers. error while trying to access SCCM Server via remote Console.

Solution No 1:


The user account running the Configuration Manager console requires permissions to access the site database through the SMS Provider. Any administrators who will use a remote Configuration Manager console require Remote Activation DCOM permissions on both the site server computer and the SMS Provider computer.
The SMS Admins security group is used to grant access permissions to the SMS Provider. User accounts for administrators that will run the Configuration Manager console must be a member of the SMS Admins group and the following procedure must be performed to grant the necessary DCOM activation permissions to the SMS Admins group.

To grant Remote Activation permissions to the SMS Admins group

1. From the Start menu, click Run and type Dcomcnfg.exe.
2. In Component Services, click Console root, expand Component Services, expand Computers, and then click My Computer. On the Action menu, click Properties.
3. In the My Computer Properties dialog box, on the COM Security tab, in the Launch and Activation Permissions section, click Edit Limits.
4. In the Launch Permissions dialog box, click Add.
5. In the Select User, Computers, or Groups dialog box, in the Enter the object names to select (examples): box, type SMS Admins and click OK.
6. In the Permissions for SMS Admins section, select the check box to allow Remote Activation.
7. Click OK twice, and then close Computer Management.

Solution No 2:

1)      Go to Start - > Run -> type “WMIMGMT.MSC”

2)      Right Click on “WMI Control ( Local )” and select Properties.

3)      Select Security Tab in WMI control properties Window.

4)      Find SMS Folder by expanding Root Folder.

5)      Select Site_<site Code> folder and Click on Security button.

6)      Add Local Group of SMS Admins and Give below Permission.

0x80091007 OS Deployment Task Sequence Error in SCCM 2007

yesterday i was landed up with above task sequence during OS deployment with SCCM 2007, Task Sequence was made by using MDT integration with SCCM 2007, After Facing this error i read the SMSTS.LOG file and Found The reason and able to solve the issue, hear is the CAUSE and Resolution of this error.

Cause :

Failed to run the action: Use Toolkit Package.
The hash value is not correct. (Error: 80091007; Source: Windows) TSManager 00/00/2012 3:51:24 PM 3112 (0x0C28)
because downloaded package hash value is different.

RESOLUTION :

1) Refresh effected Package on DP with New Source Version.
2) or Re-create Package and add on DP.
